Go through all 7 generations of Pokemon and count how many in each one you personally consider an 8/10 or above
Then post which gen was your first (and if relevant when did you lose interest/drop the series)

Because it refers to the Pokemon themselves according to the generations they were respectively released. E.g., FR/LG are gen 3 games but contain primarily gen 1 Pokemon.

no but since it’s about the pokemon it doesn’t make sense to include dppt and hgss in the same category when no sinnoh pokemon can be caught in hgss’ main game except from the safari zone if you spend a year on it

Only counting fully evolved forms because they're the only ones that are important in any way. I never unevolved Pokemon (unless they only have one form anyway) and have always seen them as something I have to put up with in order to get the fully evolved form.
A Pokemon can have a 10/10 design but if it evolves into something shit it's dead to me.

8/10 design-wise wouldn't bring up much for me, but there's plenty I'd use for variety's sake, that's the main reason the games have so much replay value for me. As a kid I only used the same ones all the time and it got boring fast

A lot more consistent than I expected. I'd always thought of gen 6 as a low point but adjusting for percentage it really isn't.

Started with Blue (but didn't really consider myself a fan until Crystal). Lost interest with LGPE but I hope that Gen 8 brings things back.

I guess Gen 7 has my favorite mons overall. They hit the nail on the head with what sorts of concepts I wanted to see anyhow that time around.

My first game was Red.
But to be honest i don't think i lost interest until gen 7. Sure it's beautiful, the scaling and stuff is a step towards the right direction.
But that's all it has going for it IMO.

i usually play for the meta in the long run, competitive has always been my true endgame, but now even the meta is so shit it stops me from wanting to play, i'm just occasionally expanding my living dex for now.
