How can someone who is so enamored with Kanto not see that every single generation has been sucking Kanto's dick? The first FOUR generations all had Kanto in them and since there's been no end to the constant Kanto pandering.

Well except gen 5. It took a little from every gen. Its a shame we couldn't have gotten that as the anniversary gen, it was far more fitting.

I like Red and Blue's story. The Pokemon are meh (but Charmeleon is my favorite Pokemon). Blue/Gary has only made a recent cameo in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Pretty much the same thing happened in all honestly, until World came out and blown everyone the fuck out. But unlike Pokémon, the devs did try to innovate, it was mostly the braindead rabid fanbase who kept holding back the series progress.

The difference is that those references are modest and don't harm the games by taking away attention from them.
In Kirby and Mario, references to Dreamland 1 and SMB are easter eggs you look for you to find.
In Pokemon, Kanto will hog all the new goodies and attention, and 30% of NPCs will reference Kanto in some way.

not vidya, but digimon is going through a similar problem at the moment. the anime and most of the merchandise now exclusively pander to nostalgia for adventure 01. the other seasons might as well not even exist. and tri was to digimon's anime what lgpe is to pokemon's games.
