No. Lucas was always retarded. The original trilogy was only good because of whatsherface who heavily rewrote his garbage ideas for the first two and only slightly with Return of the Jedi.

No, Lucas made some shitty movies but he was creative. Pokemon has been the same game with slight improvements up until XY where it became the same game but slightly worse every time.
