>>36776058Good players can win with shitmons just simply because legitimately good players will know how to get the most out of their pokemon but in a setting where you're trying to beat people, styling on them with shitmons isn't going to get you extra brownie points in rankings/ratings even though it shows more "skill" to do so and chances are that you're going to lose if you're playing someone who's around the same skill level as you or better due to deliberately handicapping yourself. Its the same sort of deal as beating all these brain dead shitters online even though they have entire teams worth of groudon, arceus, xerneas, etc but if said person actually knows how to use them, you have a very slim chance of beating them unless you're also using pokemon just as good as theirs. I feel like that kind of philosophy has sort of poisoned a portion of the playerbase because they dont completely understand it. Just simply being around and seeing all these players through the years who claim they want to win but will deliberately refuse good advice or will refuse to use good or optimal sets/pokemon solely because they're "standard" without ever realizing how or why those things become standard in the first place.
