>>36776628Generation 4. It's just the best package to me.
The waiting period was fun. New Pokemon were slowly being introduced. Pokemon like Weavile, Bonsly, Munchlax and Mime Jr. had their appearences in games like Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team and Gale of Darkness. People were speculating about Lucario's legendary status due to upcoming movie. It was interesting
The beginning of the magical was simply magical to me since I was blown away by NDS and Wii. Their graphics and global connectivity were incredible. After all these years Diamond is still a good game to me, although Battle Revolution lost quite a lot of its appeal and I consider it a pretty average game.
I haven't touched Platinum for almost a decade but after giving it my first go this year I can say it's one of my favourite Pokemon games. The best Pokedex, pleasant looking region and good set of characters made this a really fun run. Shame about the overabundance of HMs, relatively slow battle system and inconvenient inventory.
HeartGold is simply the best Pokemon experience there is to me. Everything clicks with me. Beautiful graphics (sprites, UI, overworld etc.), pleasant music, interesting additions and changes (like Pokeathlon, photos, renewed Kanto etc.) as well as a good gameplay.
And then there are spin-offs which are also great. Presented Mystery Dungeon games serve as a great sequel to the first games. I prefer the original but Time and Darkness were really solid in terms of story, music, graphics and gameplay. Sky added even more with Special Episodes and some features and I love it for that.
Ranger sequels were really interesting. Shadows of Almia removed some of the stuff I liked in the original so I'm not so fond of it, however it did introduce really diverse region. Guardian Signs pretty much perfected the gameplay and I reckon it's the best in the series. I wish for these games to come back since I still some room for improvement in them.
