I wish they would reuse stones more often. Aside from the dusk stone I feel like they're only used in one gen for a couple pokémon and that's it.

There should be a feature where there are two methods to evolve Pokémon. An easy method which includes early level ups, stones, etc and a hard method which include location based areas and trading. Doing the easy method would make the Pokémon gain less exp and learn moves later however

also iirc using a stone on a pokemon who evolves that way will evolve it regardless of whether or not it has an everstone, so this is a pointless thought exercise

Because Gamefreak is retarded. There are so many shitty evolution methods that require dumb fucking areas to be shoehorned into each game now. It’s ridiculous. This also applies to specific items too. We really need a QoL adjustment that streamlines this.

i think the earliest point in any game you can get an Ice-type is by reviving an Amaura from a Sail Fossil in X and Y, which is before the second gym I think the next earliest is in Kanto by evolving a Shellder, which is only possible with the Good Rod, and you have to have reached Celadon City to buy a Water Stone.

That's not a retcon, that's an additional method because you couldn't raise contest stats (which were in fact still in the games even in Gen 5 and XY).
