Do you remember that moment in summer 2016 when Ultra Beasts were revealed but we didn't know yet what they were? Back then this was the coolest shit ever. Everyone thought they were some kind of anti-Pokémon or something.

I always thought there was a high chance of them being just ordinary pokemon, but theorizing about them was fun. Especially because they resembled some of the new characters. Anons saying Wicke would transform into UB Absorption was amusing

There could be more of that though, like for example using attacks to destroy 3D models of debris or a car wreck or something. Or for comedic effect something like thunderbolt in the anime on a person

Ultra Beasts should've been incredibly gimmicky but one-dimensional pokemon. Stuff like an ultra-defensive Ultra Beast that only learns defensive moves (like Pyukumuku), a Dark/Fighting Ultra Beast with ridiculously high attack that only learns Sucker Punch and Focus Punch as means of damage, or a Pokemon with 1 HP that has Sturdy that has no means of protecting itself from passive damage.
That would allow them to still function as Pokemon as far as the game is concerned, but still have an immensely different playstyle to the norm when using.

The moment the two UB-02 were revealed I hoped they'd be catchable. Felt like a waste otherwise to indtroduce a mosquito and roach while making them cool to boot, and then just not making them catchable.

I'm disappointed at how underused they were in S/M's plot. Like, imagine if they were recurring bosses like Totems, and they did everything they could to seem like they weren't Pokémon. Only for the postgame to roll around and say, "Hey, those creepy strong aliens? You can fight with 'em!"

But instead, only one of them matters, and the "ermagerd invasion" is over as soon as it's introduced, and may as well have never happened. And the less said about the animé, the better.
