Really though, it makes sense to me that Unown are the "1,000 arms" Arceus used to shape the universe. Unown are useless alone, but have reality-altering powers in a group. If you had enough of them, you could theoretically create a whole new world or universe.
And really, what are Unown? They're letters. Letters have no meaning, but they GAIN meaning when they combine to create words. Then sentences, then chapters. I rather wonder if Arceus actually created the universe by WRITING IT into existence. There could be a book somewhere, that established and creates all the laws that govern the Pokéverse. If anyone ever found the book, it would be bad news beartics.
