Even if you consider the meta post game content (which I don't know why you would), the reward still isn't good. A master trainer title, that's it. With breeding you're rewarded with playing the meta, the actual fun.

It might be possible that they removed the 252 EV limit from singular stats. Not sure if I like it, mostly because it means disgusting amounts of speedcreeps to extents never seen before, as basically nothing can afford to dump everything on Speed.
