one specific criticism i have though, is that i think they're trying too hard to emulate pokemon's style of monster designs instead of doing their own thing. their monsters all look like fakemons from deviantart. if you look at the other monster-raising series that have found a niche for themselves - smt, digimon, yo-kai watch - they all have their own distinctive style just like pokemon does.
