The new game's Pikachu is as strong as a Timid 31 IV Mega Charizard Y with fully invested SpAtk EVs.
I'm using Timid over Modest for this because if I give Charizard Modest, the Pikachu will outspeed it.
This is indefensible.

Who cares, starters are optional and starters like swampert are honestly more capable of powerlifting the entire game solo
I'm going to box it, I can recognize things that are intended to make the game easier for less proficient or experienced gamers
this is one of them, so I'm just gonna box it and carry on

yes, how do you expect the game to allow you to battle the master trainers or take teams online? It won't leave your character, I'm sure, but I'm eat my favourite yugioh card if it has to remain in your party

because they are your default ride and HM, they will be on your shoulder and let you use their moves even when not used in battle

I haven't tracked any info about this garbage, but if this thing gets any coverage to hit Ground types, it will be more than capable of soloing the entire game by itself because it will simply oneshot literally everything.
