After it picked up some traction, Masuda activated the shilling overload. Incineroar is right now pretty much at the same spot where Talonflame was during X&Y's first year:
Used by absolutely everyone in-game, but also remaining not-that-popular outside of the game. Polls had Talonflame in around 10-15th place of its gen in the first year, which is around the same ranking where Incineroar lands today. Though in Incineroar's favor, it's a starter so future nerfs and the like won't affect him as much as they did Talonflame.
