They just need to revert to 1 Ability on a Pokemon, and ditch the 50/50+Hidden Ability bullshit.
There's lots of stuff the game needs to get rid of – Egg Moves need to be what they were in GS, where they were moreso access to gimmick moves and there are only a couple egg chains where it's to get an essential move on a Pokemon, vs. almost half the viable meta requiring you to waste time with egg-hatching.
IVs as well need to go.
Basically anything where being an autist with egg-hatching needs to go.
The reason nostalgia-trips to RB/GS still are rewarding, after 20 years of technological advances, and several better remakes, is because you catch a wild Pokemon, and it's immediately viable both in-game and to go on and use competitively.
It doesn't require you to then have to breed that Pokemon for
1. the right ability
2. the right nature
3. the right IV spread
4. then dick around with EVs
there's a lot the games need to ditch/rework/condense, but LGPE's gone too far with it, and probably won't actually have fixed what needs to be fixed.
