>>36803962I don't mind this kind of stuff because it gives each stage their own little personality. Charmeleon, for example, has a different color from its evo and prevo and a different build. Wartortle's got the ears, all the Bellsprout line members have their own unique looks, and so forth. If Ribombee was just a big Cutiefly then what would the point be? We'd just have Muks and Poliwraths for every evo. I prefer pokemon like Graveler to look like Graveler instead of a weird intermediate stage between Golem and Geodude.
It's different if the design is ugly on its own merits. The Oshawott line's members are all unique in the respect I've been discussing, but Samurott still looks like shit and that fucking sucks.
