>>36804949Very. The two movies gimmick could have been good if they didn't half-arse it, but it's Pokémon so of course they did. Because both movies had to be as similar as possible to constrain to the budget they end up being full to the brim of blatant 'Victini is cute' padding while the scenes differing between the films are few and rushed, with characters involved in the differences being wasted.
This is before we factor in that the whole "truth vs. ideals" thing is completely destroyed when their motivations don't change between films. Damon wants to fulfill his mother's dream and Ash wants to save Victini, how is Damon's goal an ideal on one movie and a truth in the other when it's exactly the fucking same in both?
It should have been a single movie where Zekrom sides with Damon's ideal to restore the Vale while Reshiram sides with Ash's truth that hurting Victini is wrong. They could have had the little boy (who's Japanese name refers to light) side with Ash after the latter saved him from a fall (replacing the Deerling scene in the actual films) and the little girl (who's Japanese name refers to darkness) side with Damon after he rescued her Blitzle, with the conflict being resolved by Damon seeing how his actions had caused innocent children to fight one-another. Once he's realised he's wrong that's when the whole Dragon Force bullshit happens and so on. Assuming they didn't come up with a better climactic plot device, they would have more time to build it up since all the Victini cute padding shit would be gone.
