Something i hated about Gen V is that it relied too much into wifi/events
Now a bunch of stuff is not longer available unless you modify the save file

I really wish GF gave more of a fuck and planned ahead and made an app to replace the Dream World, even if we had to pay to get it but at least it'd give us an alternative as opposed to getting nothing

i really wish this was implemented better because i think it really had the potential to be really fun. i still remember logging on everyday and playing the minigames but quickly growing bored of it yet i still enjoyed it. too bad they really fucked it up

no public wifi connections?

nintendo wifi services were launched not too long after wifi went mainstream, so the typical househol never bothered securing their connections

i leeched well throughout the DS lifespan. even after i got my own router

It wasn't your router. It was your security settings. The DS couldn't into then-modern settings. But you could always remove them temporarily.

I remember that I almost never used the GTS in gen4 thanks to that, but when the announcement came that they were going to shut down all DS wifi services, I went to the library almost every day and just traded for as long as I could, got some neat pokemon that way, still have them

Not him, but Nintendos hardware, switch as well, still has no fucking system in place for connecting to WiFi when a username is required.
College wifi didn't work at all, I had to use fucking mobile hotspot data.

They're not incompatable.
Older 3DSs have an issue with WPS/WPA2 settings because they weren't really a thing or commonplace while it was being made. To fix it, all you have to do is lower your security to ONE of those, or most of the time just setting the 3DS up using a WPS button works too. To figure this out, you just have to not be a dumbass and look into it for more than 10 minutes.

Newer versions of the 3DS and obviously the N3DS work just fine on it.
