I've found a lot of shinies which have given me a jolt of adrenaline when they pop up.

Yep! It was suprisingly stressful considering a single attack could easily 1-2HKO any of my Pokemon.
I dunno 'bout the catch rates, they were snagged rather easily, but all I know is Swalot's a goddamn tank.

Eh, I'd say anything that's obtainable even via glitch is legit until it's patched out or otherwise blocked and Gen 1 and 2 both have ways to use glitches that allow ACE that they have no intention of patching out.

Thanks to Coin Case/TM17 ACE in Gen 2 I've got literally every useful nature for Mew in Shiny.

That's out of battle, isn't it? The glitch means that a Shadow Pokemon that wasn't shiny when it was in battle will suddenly be shiny when it's snagged.

Yep. Works differently in Yellow but you can do it in Yellow too. Having a Mew means nothing if you can transfer it from virtual console. You can make it shiny or non-shiny with the correct trainer ID/name for the event Mew.

I have been playing Pokemon since I was 9. I have never seen a shiny (excluding gyrados) in legit games over the course of 14 years.
I have been playing emulators for about two years. I've caught a 3 shinies (Pidgey, Graveler, and one other that I forget).
