Rock (or Ice) will be buffed only if Game Freak decides to make a Lucario with either of those two typings. The chances of a Rock or Ice type Lucario is pretty slim however.

inb4 said Lucario has bullshit legendary-like stats with its own special-snowflake broken (non-hindering) ability and the two typings remain shit forever

They just need better Pokémon. Nobody complains that the likes of Weavile, Diancie or Tyranitar are shitmons despite their trash typings.

Weavile and Diancie are more of what we need for those two types, boating incredible offenses and speed stats. Tyranitar is just fucking bonkers lucky, with its ability effectively giving it a BST of 660 for five turns and having an incredible stat distribution and movepool; we aren't getting another mon with all those specific stars aligned in its favor unless GF goes out of their way to make it good.

Weavile and Diance don't suck because they aren't defensive. Rock and Ice are types which the usual design is a bulky Pokémon who has rocks/ice to self-defense. The weasel and Madoka Magica are exceptions because they are more than bulky things and uses their ice/rock powers for other purposes.

I can understand ice type should have more Weaviles, but Rock-type deserves to be a counterpart of Steel-type with different weaks and different resistances. In this way teams will be more diverse and we will not forced to not use Pokémon weak to fire, ground and fight except for the defensive steel Pokémon
