Before GO released, I would have said "more that it can be a bit difficult to describe Pokemania", particularly when the series has been an industry-topping mega-hit the entire time since. But GO reinserted Pokemon into general pop culture for the first time near 20 years, and that was a big part of it.

Released too late. Still Gen 1, so it is at least a little respectable though.
The problem with Yellow is that the people that played it are undoubtedly younger than R/B players and missed out on a lot of the peak of Pokémon as a result.

Dude, I got pokemon gold as a going away present to my father's for the summer. I played the shit otu of it on the way there and bred a bunch of nidoran because it was a new mechanic and I loved it. I explored every inch that I could. Was cozy as fuck. I played crystal version well into the lifespan of the gba ( i owned both emerald and Fire red at the time)

Agreed. I mean when I was nine, b&w came out but all I had was a gameboy color. Plus, red version was the only 1 I could afford. That was the only pokemon game I had until I recently bought sun. So I literally grew up with red.
So for the sake of whatever respect is left in this fandom, can we stop crapping on each other's games?
