Flying is certainly near the top, if not the best. Incredibly diverse type that gives you access to amazing offensive and defensive options.
Steel is strong but it can be tough to cover all of its glaring weaknesses.
People tend to sleep on ground, but I'd say it's also a really strong type. Sand access plus some really good tanks and sweepers make for a scary type.
My personal favorite though is bug. It has surprisingly good options, great offensive threats on both the physical and special side, some fantastic megas and access to every entry hazard. They do kind of get fucked by rocks though, so you do have to be careful. Ghost matchup is especially tough if you rely on rapid spin.

Ice would probably be really hard too if you're willing to start in Winter for access to them. Unova's ice types kind of sucked.
