This is anecdotal but I kind get it as I think cold androgynous females are scene in a more positive light and looked at as in cool by American kids while I don't think androgynous males are as popular.
4kids still shouldn't have changed it and it's dumb that they felt the need to do so but i can at least see their reasoning.
