Don't have expectations anon. Just don't. You WILL be disappointed regardless of how low they are. I thought hoping the first Switch game was just a slightly higher resolution Sun and Moon style was low expectations, and yet they STILL managed to underperform and are instead giving a higher resolution Gen 6 style. They jumped back a fucking Gen.
No matter how low you expect they will still find a way to disappoint. So just don't bother with expecting anything.
I've been broken too many times at this point.

Pokemon's always been years behind everyone else even behind Japan's Standards due to GameFreak's ineptness combined with their pride refusing to accept help from Nintendo or other companies.
For fuck's sake, Red and Green started development a year after the Gameboy was released in Japan and wouldn't see release until six years later, when the bastard would've been dead had it not been for Pokemon's extreme success.

I'm referring to after Gen 2, when Gen 3 came, put Masuda at the helm and proved Pokemon wasn't entirely dead despite the sharp decline that came after GS.
Something about that clicked and gave GameFreak a huge pride boost, and you'd rarely if ever hear about them ever receiving outside help when it came to making the games from that point onward.

Not backwards. The model in OP is clearly from XY. SM’s look much worse. Granted I imagine that is mostly due to hardware limitations but some stuff like Lysandre wearing tennis shoes in USUM is still troubling. Also while the trainer models look much better in ORAS they are still much shorter than the ones in XY. Which isn’t really a problem in that game since it’s not as apparent but would be very disappointing if they trainer models in Gen 8 were still short. I want the tall XY models back.

I think his memory was jebaited by the pic in OP. That model is only in the cutscene XY, not the gameplay lol. But yea, they can keep the human models as if, just make it more expressive. Especially the Pokemon.

I really hope let's go are just quick and easy cash grabs and gen 8 will blow everyone away. I mean Zelda and Mario on switch were both nominated game of the year with Zelda taking the win for Nintendo. I just hope Gamefreak comes through with something great. He wasn't part of Nintendo at the time, technically. He started at Nintendo in 2000. They also specifically turned down Nintendo's offered help for the Switch games.
