I want to make my own Pokémon esque game hopefully I get to start by mid November any ideas I can add to the game

Moves that you teach your monster that let you progress in the world usually you’d gain access to them after a major battle. Also the monsters can never forget these except with the help of an NPC near the very end of the game.

Areas with a lot of exploration. The deeper you get, the better the monsters you find, more valuable items, and stronger enemies. At the end, you get extremely good items (and of course, warps or check points so you don't backtrack a lot on easier areas).
Rebattle important characters.
Add some simple minigames with small rewards so there's something else to do after many battles or just chill for a while.
