nope, it used to be rare to find any until Gen5 with Lilligant and Roserade.

While Fire Pokemon are generally uncommon but there are many great ones.

Most good fire types are midway-late into the game, and are generally limited compared to the water/grass selection, this is especially true in gen 4.
Early Fire Types are always good in play throughs, especially when all fire starters are oriented torwards offense, with all but one (and a half) being speedy as well in their region.

I totally agree on Gen4 but some regions like Kanto, you don't even need a Fire pokemon since there's only 1 gym weak to it and those bugs and grass pokemon are easily dealt with your first Pidgey.

You can get Magcargo early in Hoenn and Magmar in Alola.

Simisear comes early (IIRC) in Unova too

I guess there's none in early Johto.

Just use Numel, it's way better. BW2 and Alola both have Growlithe, while Kalos has a shitload of early Fire types. Darumaka is available pretty early in Unova too, and is extremely strong.

They're fine for ingame. Ponyta has pretty good stats for an unevolved Pokemon, which makes level 40 evolution less daunting.

I agree. I would have liked for it to have been the quadruped and make Samurott the bipedal one.
"Emboar" isn't even a fighting inspired name at all. It's just "Fire pig" (though "Infernape" was the same deal---at least "Blaziken" references a Street Fighter character).
