To this day, it still packs one of the greatest combos out there for a lead: Stealth Rock + Trick Room + Memento. Its also a bulky Pokemon with passable matchups in the lead metagame: It should be able to do its job against all leads except Greninja, who you can easily scare away with one of your Trick Room's fearsome attackers, such as Tapu Bulu.
>>36851239It's more in practice that everything falls apart: Marowak is neither effective against offensive teams, that posesses generally faster attackers that will make its bulk seem like nothing, and against defensive teams, it can't really be potent with a STAB as easily answered to as Ground: Part of what makes Marowak-A so good aside from the added utility of its good resistances & access to will-o-wisp is that Ghost STAB is absolutely dreadful to deal with, along with a fire STAB that compliments it very well, and Earthquake being much better as coverage than Elemental Punches. The combo of both gives you a Pokémon that can switch into the dreaded Electric/Bug/Fire/Grass/Ice/Normal/Fighting coverage easily & answer back with something legitimately hard to answer.
