I’ve been waiting for a new one too since I started and finished a run with Woobat/Swoobat in White. Originally I thought the game clear would suffice but since Zekrom was forcibly added at that point, I went for the R2 Elite Four and true Hall of Fame. Oddly enough, the one who gave me the most grief was Caitlyn in the E4. Her Reuniclus got a very lucky crit Thunder while Doki was holding Brightpowder in the first round. Then in the second round, Doki missed an Air Slash against her Gothitelle who responded with a crit Payback. I think Grimsley got me once too, but with Night Slashes flying left and right, I’m surprised I didn’t have more random crit deaths.
Doki’s defenses were her biggest weakness despite her having amazing speed and okay Sp. Attack, (even the IV judge said her Sp. Attack was the best of her overall decent stats). I went with Unaware though it hardly mattered since not many opposing Pokémon tried buffing aside from Iris’s Fraxure getting off two dragon dances. I was actually really worried if Ghetsis’s lead Cofagrigus had Curse or not since I needed setup time to survive against his Bisharp, but my fears were unfounded as it had Toxic instead. Those two fights at the end against N and Ghetsis made for a slight twist since I was forced to send out Zekrom first and had to put Doki in danger with an immediate switch.
Overall it was a fun time. I’d actually never taken on the R2 Elite Four or Alder and, as some Solomon runs go, I cleared both the story and reached the Hall of Fame about ten hours faster than a casual play through of just the story. I look forward to trying this with other mons in other games so hopefully these threads come back in full swing. Good luck to everyone else’s runs.
