The next 6 months will likely be the worse the board has ever seen. Coming off of 2 mediocre gens, and with a release of the worst mainline title yet, the board is gonna devolve into shit.

So to counter balance that, let's talk about Gen 8! What are your hopes and expectations? What are your fears?

I hope that, since USUM was nearly a carbon copy and LGPE have nothing new to them other than overworld assets, that Game Freak have been using the last 3 or 4 years to create a masterpiece that will blow everyone away. Because after the laziness that was USUM and the tonedeaf release of LGBT, if Gen 8 isn't at least better than Gen 7 with a meaty postgame, I'm out for good.

Also Meltan is gen 8

Ever since XY all I ever look forward to now is competitive (mainly vgc) and only buy games because of it so I just want New megas and regional variants. I'll even take more exclusive z-moves with good secondary effcts as long as they give it to pokemon who needs it

LGPE are going to completely divide the board more than ever. Forget gen wars... you’re gonna see pissing contests over these games forever.

This is coming while leak season will heat up for Gen 8. The board is going to be flooded with shit leaks. You’ll have the same Ballio/Roothoot aitists speeding out on top of the LGPE. “Oh, you don’t believe this is real? Clearly you also liked LGPE, fag.”

This is going to create the perfect shitpost storm on this board. I hope it gets nuked out of existence before LGPE, honestly.

I legit want an open world Pokemon game following the footsteps of Breath of the Wild. Fly could be used for quick travel between Pokemon Centers, which could function like BotW's stables. You could start the game in the middle of the map and the levels scale based on how far away you're from the center, which would solve the problem of level scaling considerably.

I’m incredibly excited for next years game but I am dreading the leak season. Every second day there is going to be some shitty, blurry ‘leak’ or “leaked starter concept sheet”. It’s going to get fucking tiring.

On top of that, as stupid as some of you will say this is, Pokemon YouTubing is going to be even more of a joke than it already is. I already know there are going to be a excess of “new pokemon trailer REACTION!!” And countless videos where poke tubers nitpick every element of a trailer and make them into individual videos just for ad revenue.

Unfortunately deplorable, shitty YouTube channels like Verlisicry and ruffledfatcuntwhoalsolookslikeafuckingpotato will have their crappy YouTube channels get even more exposure.

I’m going to only watch the first announcement trailer for Gen 8 just so I can save as many good things for the actual play of the game. Lord knows Pokemon likes to tell us half the Pokédex and all mechanics before the game is already out.

Masuda is the actual CEO of Game Freak and most likely the producer like in Gen 7.
