>>36853788I don't think Mewtwo's backstory comes off as edgy. The scientists at Cinnabar were retarded and created a pokemon that's staggeringly more powerful than anything you could ever find in the region and then also gave it intelligence. So between the confusion of not even knowing what it is or where it fits in the world and the knowing that it only exists to be poked at by nerds it did what any imprisoned sentient being would do. And since it's knowledge of humans consists of a sample size of the scientists and maybe Giovanni if you count the movie it just assumed all humans are like that and either fucked off to Cerulean Cave or waged war on the humans that it assumes are the violent monkeys out to enslave pokemon. In one scenario it's not out to kill anyone, it just wants to be left alone. In the other scenario it learns over time that not all humans are like Giovanni and decides to just be left alone.
Either way neither one comes off as edgy. Not like it's going around killing people for no reason.
