>>36857038This is the problem with heteronormative people. They can't contemplate guys liking "feminine" things or gals liking "masculine" things without there being something wrong with them. In their world, guys should only play as guys, and girls only as girls, and there's no way for you to justify or rationalize anything else with them.
A guy can like playing with a girl avatar because he's a closested trans girl who likes expressing themselves in that way, or just because they like the variety of clothing options better, or they're doing a roleplay thing. All of these reasons are perfectly valid, and they're part of the player's own experience. Which is, technically, one thing that people actually really like about Pokemon; you can make it your own and have the adventure your own way.
