What Happened to Triple/Rotation Battles?

I really liked the Driftveil Tournament and I especially like Triple and Rotation Battles. (I like Rotation more though sorry Trip). But seriously, what happened to them? Its like they were erased from memory. They allowed for such complex team strats, and its a shame they are gone. Who else misses Rotation battles?

Triple? Yes. Rotation? No. Rotation's nothing but a gimmick, but Triple actually can actually be different enough but not super crazy.

Now, INVERSE battles on the other hand...

Removed because 3 Pokemon on a screen each trainer slows the framerate to 2, and Gen 7 added trainers being on screen too. Even Battle Royal kills the speed.

Nah, Rotation is great. I love trying to predict the switch-ins, messing up other peoples' predictions, not always being sure where and how things can go. In practice, it's surprisingly crazy.

they're still in the game files, they just never programmed a battle that uses them. 3DS is too weak to have 6 models on screen at once, eon't you remember the lag in xy? hell, NPCs frequently pop in out of nowhere in major cities, including the first one, let's not even ralk about triple battles

ever since they removed triple battles, i lost the drive to play randoms online. back in gen 5 and 6, i played triple battles all the time. course, gen 7 game out when i was 25, so all my fun times were when i was a college kid and young mid 20s. cherish those times, zoomers, before you become a bitter old boomer like me

only string I found relating to triples/rotation was for sending three pokemon at once, none for shift, auto center, rotate left/right, etc.

My old 3DS froze three times with SM double battles. I've never encountered a handheld game that froze my game before (and I played handhelds since the GB days).

I can only imagine the carnage of triple or rotation battles.

Literally this. GF made a game too intensive for the system and made zero efforts to make it run better.

I finished US this week. Totem battles make the game lag. Double battles make it slow to a crawl. Even some Z-moves make the game hang for a few seconds. I had Lycanroc on my team, and its special Z-move has to load for several seconds after the protagonist does the Z-pose, which looks absolutely ridiculous.

Shit, the game can't even handle a single pokemon on screen during Pokémon Refresh. Naganadel for example makes the framerate drop a lot.

Inverse battles are overrated as fuck, it is nothing but the type matchups being flipped with no thought being given to balance.
Triples are fine but don't offer much that Doubles don't.

Now Rotation is an actually great battle style. Being able to "switch" and attack the same round makes for excellent mindgames.

Using PS2 models for the Pokémon may have been a point of pride for Masuda or some shit but it was complete retardation.

They needed to scale back the models Creatures gave them - were probably expected to, in all reality - and didn't.

Masuda is the major problem because he's the one pushing for yearly shit but in part because Game Freak aren't competent enough to develop yearly games. As shown time and again right from the literal start they NEED the time.

It took them half a goddamn decade to develop a Gameboy game.

Gimmick strategies which rely on all 3 mons to set up one mon might seem good on paper, but they never work. If they did, Wonder Guard Shedinja would be competitive. The damage is too great, Fake Out is too common, and the strategy is too obvious.
