This is what I can't stand about the fucker. He makes an annoying and tedious process for producing the best stats for competitive play, and then cries over the fact that people do indeed decided to go through these annoying and tedious processes in order to win. It's like a strict parent forcing their kid to only study 24/7, and never letting them go out or do anything else, and then complaining that the kid does nothing but study and never goes out.

It reminds me of Sakurai and Brawl. He didn't like how people were playing the game so intentionally nerfed the competitive aspect of it. The only difference is Pokemon never got its melee. Because there creators make sure Pokemon never gets too hardcore

It isn't his Alzheimer's this time. Masuda has always been on about how IVs make each pokémon a "unique individual", but for some reason refuses to acknowledge that it means some pokémon will literally be inferior.

Abilities and natures aren't what makes breeding a chore, just getting those two aspects down is done in a couple of eggs if you have a mon with the right nature to start with. The IV's are the problem.

Just remove IV's and create some other unique quirk that doesn't affect gameplay, and they remain unique while you at the same time get rid of biking simulator 20XX.

He's talking about the main method of getting powerful Pokemon in the previous games, and how LGPE removes breeding in favor of, instead, catching dozens of the same Pokemon to find the best one, like Pokemon Go. He touts this as a "new way to play the game".
That's what he means, he's promoting a gameplay change. He is in no way endorsing hacking or even touching on it at all.

That's unironically part of the reason Gen 7 is worse that past games.

Tauros doesn't properly replace the bike because there is no auto run setting meaning you can't hatch eggs at the fastest movement speed with one hand anymore.

Well Sakurai tried to find a middle ground between melee and brawl. Masuda sort of threw players a bone with UV judges, destiny knots and such, and everstones. But those are only band aids to the real problem of fighting RNG nonstop

All competetive players cheat anyway. Why would you want to waste 20 hours every time you want to switch pokemon, try a new strat, the meta changes, or you just need to shift around IVs a little.

As a casual there's really no reason to cheat. The game is desighned to be beaten by a child.

Gamefreak could make breeding more accessible so it only takes 1 hour or even just 10 minutes to get a pokemon battle ready but it'd change nothing. Competetive players would still cheat because it's quicker and they don't care about the busy work . Casual players don't care about minor stat diffrences in the first place. They just want to use the pokemon they think look cool/cute while they explore the region.

Going the distance should be intuitive progression with special features to bump up IV's, correct nature buffs and debuffs, make EV allocation simple and user friendly, hidden abilities should be accessible after meeting certain conditions, and find a way to access egg moves outside of breeding.

This whole "secret club of top level play" idea needs to die.

How to fix:

-Change egg moves into Tutor/Remember moves
-Make IV caps/EV reducing berries more easily available/grindable
-Create a new item or service allowing you to change a pokemon's nature, like self help books or a poke-psychologist
-Add some other bonus for bred mons like leveling faster or significantly higher shiny odds, if we really want to go crazy allow breeding to do things like alt colors on mons inherited from the father

Now random wild captures can be more easily turned competitive-viable and breedfags can still indulge in shiny hunting and balltism

I've always liked the idea of having it be like having your pokemon train with an Actor or something. Put your pokemon on a little play and you need a "Script" of a certain play to change the nature or something.

Have you ever considered that, in a game with a competitive setting and multiplayer capabilities, people might want to, you know, give themselves the best odds of winning. The whole point of an RPG is to try to build a good team/character to fight others with.
