So since Masuda said in the last interview that Gamefreak struggles so much with how to implement HMs in each game, let's figure it out for them.
HMs take up move slots and can get you stuck in certain areas if you would get rid of your HM Pokemon, all balls and your money. See the Cinnebar Island prison prank.
Pokeride is a good solution, but very limited due to only a handful of Pokemon being available. Also the silly sattles and suits kill all immersion.
Riding Pokemon like in LGPE seems to be a step in the right direction, but besides surfing it basically only replaces the bike in aesthetics without any other purpose for reaching new places. Also it is a lot of work to implement this for over 800 Pokemon.
So, what is the solution?
