How come Game Freak stopped adding so many double battles to the games like they did in Emerald and Platinum?

I'm replaying platinum, and I'm realizing how fun doubles can be when you have some pokemon with good synergy. Like pairing Bronzong with Steelix for Hypnosis, curse and EQ spam.

I miss triple and rotation battles.

They probably got rid of double battles and the others because hardware limitations of the 3DS.

Double battles lag like a motherfucker in Gen 7

Because that is too complicated for the kids.

Sucks, because the Gamecube games were a blast due to being all doubles.

They were less common in Gen 5 because triple battles, and kind of got shafted in Gen 6, because Gen 6 fucking sucks. Honestly I always found the gameplay of double and triple battles step above single battles, especially in single player.
