Okay I haven't been on here for like a year and haven't followed any of the Let's Go news. So I have a few questions.

Why does everyone hate them? Is it just a kanto remake? If so can I get the regular starters? Any news on if we can still get mega stones?

You're forced to start with Pikachu or Eevee, but you can catch the original staters later on. No idea on the last part.

Mew is only obtainable if you buy the pokeball controller. Said controller is $50, more expensive than any mainline game before this, and it'll be basically unusable for any other game. Also you already got exp for catching pokemon in gen 6/7, only you didn't have to catch them to actually get exp.

Trust me, you don't want this. You can get a much better pokemon experience anywhere else.

You still get exp by fighting trainers. But you cant get exp from fighting wild pokemon, because you can't even fight wild pokemon

Likely the same shit that happened with Other M. The interviews were talking about how Team Ninja was heavily against the control scheme and Samus not turning purple with the gravity suit but Sakamoto was the boss so his will was done.

It is not like it is hated. It is just something nobody asked for.

They are simplifying the entries to help hook the audience they got the attention of with Pokemon GO.

Meanwhile the more dedicated Pokemon fans who have stuck by the series through the generations and systems, see this game as doing too much to simplify the series, removing aspects that have long been tradition such as held items and abilities, and are rightfully worried that this simplification will stick as the series progresses.

No battle spot, no wonder trade, no breeding, no GTS, no wild battles, no non Gen 1 Pokémon outside of the Meltan line, no abilities, no evidence of good Pokémon, no difficulty, and nothing gameplay or content wise to justify the fact that's a full priced console game.

In short it's an incredibly watered down handheld game being sold as console game for $60. Also they made almost no improvements if any to the 3ds animations.

It seems like it will be in a lot of ways an inferior remake when compared to the GBA games, both being less faithful while adding less new content, it isn't pushing visuals very far, it uses Pokemon Go mechanics for catching which, while good for a mobile game where you play in bite sizes, is not good for an extended and involved play session, it strips away held items, abilities and natures which all add personality and customization for your Pokemon, and it doesn't even have the iconic rival of red and blue. It's scuffed.

The best way to get someone into Pokemon is for them to emulate one of the older games on their phone. They can play on a bus or train commute or on their lunch break at work without changing what they carry on their person and get hooked on it that way. I suggest a ds remake of Gold and Silver assuming that they know at least a bit from the cartoon or the merch from back in the day.
