Funny how it goes for me.

I really loved Greninja until it was shilled to death (I really dislike Ash-Greninja). Now I just like it.

I wasn't too keen on Incineroar when it was first revealed, but the more I read about it and the more I saw it in action, the more I began to love it. It's easily one of my favorite starters now, and I'm hyped for his Smash inclusion

Basically this, I wouldn't be surprised if Incineroar was not only the literal only option GameFreak and TPC presented Sakurai with, but they also effectively held all the Pokemon hostage unless he added the fucker.
I also highly expect them to get pissy about making one of those DLC Slots be a Gen 8 rep to promote it before release, much like how Corrin in Sm4sh did it.

He's unironically my favorite starter in the whole series. So I'm super excited that he is in. I like his whole heel wrestler persona and the fact that he is one big reference to Tiger Mask makes it that much better. I also think he has the coolest looking Z-move of the starters from gen 7.

Lucario is part of the big 4 with Charizard, Mewtwo and Pikachu. Deshitueye is ugly, overshadow by Rowlet, overshadowed by Incineroar, overshadowed by Primarina and irrelevant in the anime. We've been over this in the past.

Sakurai's even told us that he came up with the plans in Dec 2015, meaning the roster was probably finalized in 2016, before the games even came out. Incineroar was probably planned to be in the game before we even knew about its existence.

It isn't nearly the same situation and you know it. It isn't even in the same league as Greninja. At least that frog consistently came out on top of its gen before getting shilled. This cereal mascot has been getting shilled off the ass in all forms and he still struggles to reach the top 10 of his own gen. That's not even close.
