Well… it looks like it finally happened. We managed to get an even worse character addition than Corrin. Yes. Corrin was a blatant advertisement for the then-upcoming Fire Emblem Fates and not a fan-favorite, but he was at least unique. Incineroar is actually worse than him. His ugly design assaults my poor eyes to the point where I actually feel offended by his inclusion. Most Fire Emblem characters that could be included in Smash are already pretty generic to begin with, with most of them being humans that wield weapons. Pokemon, on the other hand, consists of hundreds of unique monster designs with their own special attributes and body shapes. Incineroar, out of all those Pokemon, is just another generic brawler, and another fire user in a roster that already has many fighters and fire users such as Captain Falcon, Ike, Roy, Charizard, Bowser, and Ridley. We could have gotten a Pokemon that performed well on the Smash Ballot or a different Gen 7 Pokemon that actually has many fans such as Decidueye, Mimikyu, or Lycanroc. However, thanks to Masuda’s bias towards Incineroar due to it being his favorite Alola starter, GameFreak and TPCi instead forced Sakurai to include a Pokemon that they and only a few fans like. So many others were shafted just so they could shove their bara fursuit fetish mon down our throats some more. And before all ten of you Incineroar fans call me salty, just understand that you are in the minority. Most people would have rather gotten any other Pokemon than Incineroar. Regardless, there are two good things I can say about Incineroar’s inclusion. It’s at least not another Gen 1 Pokemon, and I’ll look forward to defeating Incineroar mains online. I won’t allow one bad character to ruin the rest of the awesome roster for me. Ultimate’s roster is truly the best in Smash history, and I’ll forever be grateful for Sakurai and the development team for making it happen.
