>underground is leagues better than meme contests and bases (which you still have in underground), Bases don't exist with the same level of customization or features. Everything was scrapped for a terrible capture the flag game which was made worse by the input lag in the area.
The only other thing to do in the underground was mining which basically amounted to tap the screen and hope RNG doesn't fuck you with a long vein of iron.
