Honestly I do not understand understand how someone can complain World of Light.
It looks fantastic and spirits are a cool way of characters that would never see the light of day, even as assist trophies. I say this as someone that usually skips over the Smash single player content to get all the characters for multiplayer matches.

I love platformers and can safely say the level design in SSE was generic boring shit, so frankly nothing of value was lost. If they had levels specifically tailored to certain characters it could be a concept that has potential though I suppose. Like board the platforms but an actual game.

Spirits are just JPEGs, the same as stickers. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. People would rather collect trophies and those are out, despite the fact they could've just imported the 3D models from older games and only have to make a few from scratch

It's a bit more work than that, since they need to rig the model for the engine in order to pose them, then pose them, then fix whatever stretching occurs, and finally seek approval from the relevant parties, since this franchise is nothing if not an IP attorney's worst nightmare.

There's also the sheer number and the expectations for what that would be. Smash 4 had something like 700+ trophies, up from like 550 in Brawl, up from like 300 in Melee. They're looking at 800+ trophies easily.

Don't forget that there's 80 cast members that need to be balanced, too.

Probably because the adventure mode isn't the story mode people wanted. A lot of people were hoping to get SSE 2.0, or at least more cutscenes of character interactions. Instead it seems to be a bunch of custom smashes with stickers 2.0 slapped onto characters. Maybe it'll be more, I don't know, but from the direct it was underwhelming.

That, coupled with the loss of single player modes left a sour taste in many people's mouths. Some people have problems with how online is being handled as well.

One thing I forgot to add to this post >>36883079 was that they'd also have to redo or adjust the models' UV mapping and textures. And write descriptions for the trophies, and localize those into 10 different languages... I'll end this right here or else I'll never stop.

Combination of the paywall, For Glory/For Fun consolidation, and the fact that you're not guaranteed to play by the rules you want. I was a grinchfag and I was disappointed it wasn't real but I'm still very happy with the game. World of Light looks really cool, Inciniroar actually looks fun as much as I don't really care for the character and Piranha Plant is really interesting and it fills a weird niche while expanding the definition of what is qualified as a smash fighter.

Its funny you say that, because for the a solid month the smash community collectively had their heads up their asses. The majority of people insisted the leak was real despite evidence it was not, solely out of wishful thinking was obnoxious.
There was legit 0 chance that a leak without a new Pokémon was real, but people still chose to believe the one with the most unrealistic boomer roster ever.

Sakurai has the final say on who gets in the roster and he has stated that he reserves slots for Pokemon characters. It's also apparent that Sakurai and his dev team are huge wrestling fans considering how much love Incineroar's moveset, animations and alt colors have.

Saying that TPC pushed Incineroar and forced Sakurai to add him to Smash Bros is fucking retarded. It's more likely that Sakurai just picked the Pokemon he liked the most, just like with Greninja.
