(except there is no way to enforce sleep clause. It was in Battle Revolution but GameFreak never adopted that option. Still, I digress). If GameFreak changes WiFi battles and makes it impossible to use a Pokemon UNLESS it was obtained in Gen 8, then they could easily restrict movesets.
I know they already do this for Battle Spot and VGC, I'm saying they can make this rule apply universally if they wanted to. Forbid players from having ANY kind of PvP match unless every member of their battle party was obtained in the current gen.
They probably want to do this anyway. It's the only way to kill PuP/ST Mega Kanga
