This undoubtedly should apply to not just pokemon, but brony shit, or any odd fetish from /b/ like fluffy ponies, etc etc. Some people are immune to the "perversion", but you don't necessarily have to start off as an autist or mentally unstable. It's actually reversible if you eventually come to realize you have a problem and put enough effort, willpower and dedication to distance yourself from it. Eventually you'll forget about it and won't care, but don't go back towards it later on, because you can re-activate that trigger very easily. It's like drugs or smoking in a way.
