I've done it twice. Latias in AS cause I forgot to catch a Pokemon that can learn fly by that point.

I used Regice once in a replay of Ruby using only BL/OU Pokemon from that gen.

I only use the ones allowed online and in the battle tree. I do use legal presets, but sometimes a guy just wants to go in with his boys.

Depends if I like it, Xerneas for example is gorgeous and I had her in my team purely for aesthetic reasons, but the gen 3 & 4 legendaries are hideous imo and thus I don't use them.

Most legends are obtainable near the end of the game or post game and by then, you should have a full team so the idea of getting a legend that's potentially weaker than what you have now at the final stretch is a bit of a turn off. I guess there's events and the latis in ORAS, but meh.

That being said, I remember my first play through of Fire Red, I used the ever loving shit out of Zapdos. Bird was based as fuck.

They're boring handouts at this point.
Back when you had to find them it was fun to use them because you worked to find em. You used SOME amount of independent effort. Now they're just dropped in your lap, either through the story or picking up a code at the game store. No feeling of roundabout victory
