This is the worst thing to happen to the games. Not debatable. It unlocked the gates for anime shit to blatantly be shoehorned in and directly responsible for LGPE.

It's not really "new", it's the same as Smash 4. Turning into Ash-Greninja is the only difference.

It's really just an aesthetic change. Lucario also got its Final Smash from Brawl back with the only difference being that it turns into Mega Lucario.

The anime's always been tied to the games, OP. It's how it stays afloat. This time the anime did well enough to give a little back to the games, for better or worse. There's also the pokemon distributions tied to anime movies that may be the best(and sometimes only) way to get them at the time of their debut.

Literally the entire style was changed to reflect the anime after Yellow. Have you seen the RGB sprites? It's a totally different aesthetic.

I will never understand this argument. Megas got new action figures, plushes, keychains, games exclusive to themselves, and even allowed room to remake toys for older Pokemon to partner them with their new megas. The problem is Mega evolution would be garbage if it was handed to someone like Ash because if you lose with a mega evolution, it proves you are GARBAGE.
