The story is obsessed with the concept of hope and despair, but it's done with so little tact that you could replace every use of the words "hope" & "despair" with "good" & "evil", "light" & "darkness", or "pizza" & "french fries" and nothing in the story would change.
The canon plot is as by-the-numbers as you'd expect.
Nobody important ever gets killed off and eventually it's revealed that nobody even died hurr durr it was all just a test to see if your heart was pure and full of li-- I mean hope! :DDue to Japan's weird censorship rules all the blood is colored pink/purple and just looks like spilt paint. And all the art in the game looks pulled right out of a middle school hot topic weeb girl's artbook. Seriously, just play 999 instead.
