Agreed. This guy was a pompous ass that in any real world situation would have been smacked. I was legit angry when he wouldn't let me explore because he wanted to find treasure as if he owned the entire area. I think I got more mad because I know people like this exist.

But foreal, I was fuming.

iirc the two paths he blocks arent even related to progressing the story. the first path is already blocked by the sudowoodo shortly after and nothing ever happens at the second hotel other than traveling to aether paradise with faba which they could have easily placed a flag in the code to not make him show up until after beating lana
