not gonna lie incineroar looks pretty dope in smash
this is the ugliest piece of gamefreak has ever created and it is leagues away from deserving of its own smash slot

Isaac is yet another generic anime swordsman from a dead franchise, and Banjo is owned by a rival company that is the complete antithesis of Nintendo. I'd say they're not very deserving.

Westerns. Geno has literally no hype in Japan. It's all westerns. Because they played Super Mario RPG. Because they didn't play Dragon Quest. What little characters they recognized from their muh childhood, they want them in. Geno, Banzo, these are the result of that.

I think what happened was Sakurai had to guess which one of the starters would be the most popular months before Sun and Moon's release, and gauged wrong.

Remember that he chose Greninja long before XY released, and he luckily chose the one that genuinely did end up popular. Regardless of your personal opinion, everyone was talking about Decidueye being the coolest around when the game released, so Incineroar feels like a miscaclculation.

Or he chose it because he likes it, or because he saw more potential with it (first true grappler), or because he likes wrestling.
Besides it doesn’t really matter who gets in, they’ll automatically become popular thanks to Smash.

You start with "regardless of personal opinion" then you go and revise history because of it?
When Deci was leaked no one was too positive about it because it didn't fit their assassin predictions and that lead up right to the release. Then it went further downhill when it was revealed to be extremely slow.

The fact of the matter is that none of the final evos were warmly received.

Nah, I just think he saw more potential in Incineroar. Decidueye is fine, but it won't be as unique as Incineroar. I can already tell you what moveset he'd have. We all can. It sounds cooler, sure, but far less unique. With so many Pokemon reps, there's literally none like Incineroar.

Him and Hall often stated their dislike into being forced into shoving new pokemons every game after melee just to shill the current generation for Game Freak. it's already hard enough to make every fire emblem sword fighter a somewhat distinct character, but nintendo wants smash as a publicity piece for casual westerns giving attention to their easter hits, after seeing what Smash 64 did to Mother.
I like Smash because of the surprisingly level of details and caring charm that Hall puts in every game, even if its a simple game like Kirby 9999 or Kid Icarus 3ds. But is clearly that nintendo has a different vision on what it should be, like all the dumb gameplay mechanics that they requested in Brawl

Upon reveal, normies and videogame sites were mostly talking about Primarina completely defying expectations, Incineroar being bipedal, and Decidueye being a Ghost type for some reason

I’m more than 90% sure Incineroars shilling is Masuda’s meddling. Remember when we saw an unexplainable rise in Scrappy-chu shilling during the HGSS era even though no one gave a single fuck about the damn thing? It also got a spot in Smash over many other much more deserving gen 2 Pokemon. Reason? It was Masuda’s favorite Pokemon until gen 5.

They’re quite literally GameFreak Lightnings.

Torchic is his Gen 3 favorite, which is why it appeared early in the anime, got a Mega Stone and an event before ORAS and before the other starters, got Speed Boost to make it the strongest starter in singles etc.

Deci was met with hate for the reasons stated in my post in almost every pokemon community and didn't pick up until pokken.
Incineroar was hated because people thought it was Fire/Fighting with many still making that mistake.
Primarina was just hated because it was too feminine.

Although they are primarily Smashfags and mostly because of his playstyle and expressiveness, I doubt that would work on the shithole that is /vp/.
And yeah it’s a shitty final reveal, but that’s about the reveal and pacing, not about Incineroar itself.

Man, in hindsight, both Psyduck and Meowth would’ve been cooler than Jigglypuff in 64. I know Jiggly’s in because it was easy to clone from Kirby, but imagine if Psyduck or Meowth were grandfathered into Smash
