I too will be jumping ship if Gen 8 isn't great. By which I mean it minimum needs to bring back all of the content that has existed to date. Even if that means them doing nothing new just as a starting point.
They SHOULD have done this with the Kanto remakes since they hadn't done it to date but now Gen 8 is the last chance. Gen 6 I could accept, Gen 7 was shit for it and Gen 8 is the last chance.
I'm already not buying anything Pokémon as a fuck you to them. You don't get to take tens of thousands of dollars from me for 2 decades now and then develop shit for ONLY other people with it.
Making options for everyone is fine and sometimes games can't do it, but there is no reason a Pokémon game shouldn't be for everyone. It just needs the work put into it.
