OP is talking about event locations like Ilex Forest for Celebi, Southern Island for Lati@s, Faraway Isle for Mew, Navel Rock for Lugia/Ho-oh, Outer Space for Deoxys, New Moon Island for Darkrai, that huge flowery path for Shaymin, Hall of Origin for Arceus and Liberty Garden for Victini

I’ve always hated receiving an event pokémon without any context other than “it’s rare and good”. When the experience of games has traditionally been about adventure/exploration and finding creatures in their natural context, receiving a Pokemon without any kind of in-game narrative hook to inform the personality of what you’re getting outside of a tie-in movie feels like it actively undermines the achievement-based currency of going out and catching Pokémon.

Most event only Pokémon are so broadly defined that I find it difficult to assign any of them a brand new location? I often completely forget that Pokemon like Magearna and Volcanion exist because I don’t have any memories attached to them other than downloading them and putting them in a box. Does Jirachi live in a cave? Would Marshadow be found in a spooky house or is it not that sort of ghost?

I always thought jirachi should've been in meteor falls somewhere after getting an item er something.
Mew should've been in a separate island entirely in gen1. Like it's own little version of Faraway island that the SS Anne could take the player.
And I think Diance should've been in reflection cave in it's own little room somewhere after interacting with that suspicious sun dial.
