>>36906160Abilities, held items, breeding and cross-gen evolutions are a main part of the Pokemon battles. Pokemon like Scyther, Electabuzz, Magneton, Onix, and Porygon really shine thanks to their evolutions. That's also how you get to defeat broken stuff like Alakazam or Gengar, yet they still get Mega Evolutions that give them a huge advantage.
Game Corner was the only true Kanto minigame. You could only play Surfing Pikachu on Yellow with ridiculous conditions, and Safari Zone was more of a "get this rare Pokemon by luck!" thing. Game Corner also was pretty useful for obtaining rare items, Pokemon or TMs.
We've had Amie in every game since 2013. There's no real reason to remove it if every single Pokemon already has animations for it. It was also a nice way to compensate for the lack of Pokemon walking behind you, and I'm happy that it is returning on LGPE, but why don't just keep both of them?
The graphics downgrade is about how they decided to go for the shitty chibi blocky gen VI design even though they had made a much better work with gen VII. It was the closest we've ever had to official artwork. There's no point on making every character a fucking chibi soulless puppet when even in XY they had good-looking in-battle artwork. Also, jumping Growlithe, Mewtwo neck, and plastic textures are shitty, even for the supposed game's aesthetics; not to mention how ridiculous is for the game to lag with cutscenes/overworld when even fucking XY could hold 3 vs 3 battles.
Handholding and Friendly Rival have been common in Pokemon since a long time ago, but the games have always had some kind of trial and error method. Rivals asking you if you are ready for battle or giving you free items simply ruins their purpose, too.
Also, Sevii islands at least offered things like breeding, minigames, new dungeons, a battle facility, Johto Pokemon, a small new story, and Elite Four's second round. That's better than random trainers with hacked movesets and level 75 mememons.
