No Togepi so you can still get the egg to hatch for it in both versions as that's one of the more memorable parts of gen 2 no matter which version of it you play.

Gen 4: Pachirisu and Buneary
Gen 5: Emolga and Minccino
Gen 6: Dedenne and Espurr

Pikaclones are a given, and it'll be some cute marketable normal/fairy first form.

For people saying Marill, Marill is literally nowhere as iconic as Togepi, who was front and center in the anime from halfway through season 1.

Pichu would be the other choice because it is also huge and representative of Johto.

If they continue this sub series, they're going to run into the issue of not having a mon pair that's iconic enough to get new players in. That's why I think they'll go the Let's Go to Johto, Pikachu/Eevee! route instead of choosing new mascots each time.

The only one I'm super confident with is gen 7. The only Pikaclones that seem market worthy are Dedenne and Pachirisu, but gen 4 already has two more obvious choices. Gen 3 feels especially lacking with cutesy mascots.

We’re not sure yet until the game is datamined. Some people said the stats were doubled but it’s inconsistent.

My guess is that they start with their usual stats but later in the game (maybe after each gym badge) they get a stat buff.

Snubbull And Marill make the most sense together

Both debuted in the 1st ever movie short at the same time. Both fairy type. One pink & one blue like the stereotypical gender colors appearing to both boys and girls. Snubbull is popular with trainers lore-wise. Snubbull hasn’t received official merchandise since 1999 so it’ll be a nice revive for it.

Marill on the other hand is used by Lyra as her starter in HGSS which they’ll most likely draw inspiration from (as well as Crystal). So Marill is definitely a starter.

Togepi is meant to be an egg Pokémon - in game event and it’s story important from Mr Pokémon, they won’t replace that scenario so it won’t be a starter

Pichu is possible but after Pikachu being a starter last time it’ll be redundant

If not Snubbull and Marill then 2 all new Pokémon.
