Um no. Exploring dungeons and big routes like Hoenn 119 is always the highlight of the adventure. The tedious part of the games is when NPCs stop you so they can spoonfeed you exposition and useless dialogue.

Because I happened and got countless Japanese Children lost and confused to a point where they axed the Azure Flute Event and soon enough every Mythical was a giveaway from your local deliveryman and they started making dungeons easier to traverse with less HM requirements before they ultimately became corridors in Alola.

Also, you'll still be walking around a maze of Zubats for 4 hours in LGPE. Not to find an exit, but because you legitimately cannot get past them in the overworld because of how fucking small the map is and how crowded it is with Wild Pokemon.

People replying to posts like this and saying they don't care about good dungeons actually genuinely depresses me.
Dungeons are.... or WERE a highlight of the games for me.
Never thought I'd feel like a fucking boomer, I'm only fucking 19 for cunts sake but if the current majority of the fanbase just wants quick gratification, hates dungeons longer than 2 rooms and gets frustrated without being guided and constantly force healed then I guess I'm a fucking boomer.

Po town was a dungeon. Not a super complex one and there where no puzzles, but it had more trainers and complexity than any regular routes in the game

Game freak has never been really good at developing dungeons. They've all been super basic mazes with the only puzzles to shake things up being strength boulders and slippery tiles. It was impressive on the GBC, but once you've played other RPGs you realize that what we had isn't really worth praising. I don't miss the dungeons, but I also don't appreciate the fact that GF opted to remove them entirely instead of trying to make them better when they finally transitioned to off-grid movement.

Call me a casual zoomer retard, but I'm glad dungeons got dumbed down to shit. Dungeons+random encounters do not mix, and even going into your bag to throw on a repel can distract you from where you've been/which path you need to go next. There's a reason even hardcore games like MMOs/dungeon crawlers usually have linear dungeons, because the battles make the dungeons much more tedious.

There are way better ways to create engaging level design in pokemon than long multifloor cave mazes with rock pushing puzzles

You're right but at the same time not right. Pokemon dungeons are worse now, but in retrospect i never liked them because unlike other RPGs they are super easy and short. Look up Unknown Dungeon for example: final dungeon of the game, yet in it you only fight shitmons, Chansey and a legendary, is only 3 small, non-confusing floors.
